Meet the Team: John Trickey, Managing Director of Sales

As the director of sales for Everest Discovery, John Trickey partners with clients to ensure they use the technology that is best for their case – both in terms of functionality and cost-effectiveness – for a successful outcome.

A Veteran in the Industry

John came to Everest about four years ago with an extensive background in the legal profession. Starting out at Skadden in 1992, John worked as a legal assistant and helped with paralegal work for five years.

From there, he went to Ikon (now Ricoh), where he opened up the Wilmington, Delaware, office for the company. While working as a customer service representative, he decided he wanted to be part of the sales team. They put him through extensive training and moved him to a sales role a few years later.

This is where John excelled! He was quickly ranking in the top five sales positions in the company every year. With his knowledge of the legal industry and the education and training to be a salesperson, he was set up to really help his customers get exactly what they needed to make their jobs easier. He continued in this role – both in sales and management – for about 15 years before moving to Merrill Corporation, where he was VP of sales for the Mid-Atlantic Northeast. In this role, John sold eDiscovery services to law firms and corporations. Once Merrill was acquired by DTI, John went on to be an on-site consultant for AstraZeneca, operating their eDiscovery department and working with corporate paralegals, attorneys, the head of compliance and other executives. He handled all the data mining and data migrations for every acquisition. After leaving that position, John joined Sunblock Systems and sold both cybersecurity and eDiscovery offerings for about two years.

After that, John decided he wanted a break from the legal industry and got a job selling motor homes and campers. He enjoyed trying something new, but when Tom Pellegrino of Everest called him about joining the company, he knew it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up! At that point, Everest was under new ownership and looking to grow. It was a great time for John to become part of something innovative while working with a team he knew and respected! He was excited to be back in the legal industry since his stint away had revived him, and he was thrilled to see how he could help Everest clients with their eDiscovery needs.

A Day at Everest

“The best part of what I do every day is really in the relationships I am able to form with both current and prospective clients. I really enjoy educating them on what they need from a technology perspective and seeing them succeed with their legal matters,” states John.

Every day John interacts with the amazing client support team at Everest and with clients to make sure they have everything in place to be successful in their cases. He regularly attends industry events and networks with other industry folks. He is constantly looking at opportunities to develop new partner programs, grow additional awareness of the company and do whatever what he can to make sure Everest clients know about the latest technology options available to them.

Outside of Work

John is an outdoors and family kind of guy. He loves fishing, boating, surfing and spending time with his three children.
